What is Solid Surface?

Solid Surface is very sophisticated, durable and hygienic. Developed in the late 60’s, it is a man made material, generally a mixture of alumina trihydrate (ATH), acrylic, epoxy or polyester resin and pigments. Its nonporous, hard wearing and seamless characteristic make it very resistant to bacteria and dirt build-up. It is thermo-mouldable and can be therefore shaped 2 or 3 dimensionally.

Available is an almost endless selection of colours, ranging from solids to translucents (can be backlit) and sparkles to patterns and veins. Solid Surface sinks can be seamlessly integrated, material joins are mostly inconspicuous and gas cooktops or outdoor bbq’s can be incorporated into benchtops. Undermount, invisible surface chargers (to recharge your mobile devices without cord) can easily be fitted. The material is repairable at can be re-sanded.

Solid Surface is generally 12mm thick (also 6 and 19mm), sheet sizes vary, however are around 3650L x 760W. 1sqm weighs around 21kg.
